Brown’s Beach House is one of my favorite restaurants at the @Fairmont Orchid on the Big Island of Hawaii. Here are Softshell Crabs on a bed of lobster fried rice, served on the edge of the sea.
The Big Island Film Festival kicked off last night with a Reception at the Fairmont Orchid hosted by Mayor Billy Kenoi. Stars, Directors and Producers from many of the films featured at the festival mingled with VIP guests and were treated to Hula by a Waimea Halau. The festival continues through Monday evening, come on and join in the fun. Many of the films are free and family friendly. Some of these pictures were taken at Husk Restaurant while lunching with my pals Holly Herrick and Nathalie DuPree. The others were taken at a Barn Raising hosted by Lowndes Grove Plantation on the Ashley River.

Every January I get to do one of my favorite jobs. I am the photographer for the Waimea Ocean Film Festival. It is 12 days of great films and lots of activities related to the ocean, environment and nature. Here are pictures of just some of the awesome food we got to taste. 
From the Fairmont Orchid’s Luana Lounge Dessert Tapas Menu, this incredible tart has a macadamia nut crust and melt in your mouth filling of caramel and chocolate. The orange sections make a delicious sweet and perky combination with the dark dense chocolate. Even the arugula micro greens and the viola on the Chantilly Cream were an amazing pairing of flavors
Even a touch of Fairmont Gold Leaf on top!
Here is what happens when you add a few pomegranate seeds to a glass of good champagne.
